The AS platform is breathing new life into a lot of folks who have needed macOS software and use multiple displays, etc. Yeah, Monterey has been a little bit of a rocky ride and Apple has had a number of "silent" fixes that are somewhat isolated it seems in terms of problems that don't seem to be largely public knowledge. 12.5 is actually on RC2 Opens a new window now, so it's pretty much a done deal at this point. Kevinmcox it actually is 12.5 because this is actually being worked on with Apple on an issue and they requested upgrading to the beta path. It would sure be nice if there were a cmd prompt or similar method to connect to smb servers that would just give you all of the verbose connection information and logging in one place for the Windows client. I suppose I need to turn my research towards that to see if there are ways to get better/more detailed diagnostic logging and information for when it tries to connect. It really does seem as if there is some kind of authentication or protocol setting issue on Windows 11. I also tried both ProtocolVersionMap: 4 & 5 for SMB 3 ONLY, but that also yielded the same result (failure) for this particular Windows 11 workstation. I did change it to ProtocolVersionMap: 6 to eliminate SMB 1 entirely, but it didn't help. ProtocolVersionMap: 5 = SMB 3 (this seems to be the same maybe?) but I really love the snarky remarks that are so frequent on the interwebz and since this is unnecessary we'll just leave this alone. Q: If you enable network discovery and file and printer sharing on the W11 device, does this change things?Ī: These were already enabled (and perhaps may be seen as verified by the answer to #1).ītw, I could get into the details for the "WHY" behind the Mac being used since it seems to be quite the internet obsession. Q: Is the Windows 11 device running any different programs compared to the others?Ī: It is running a Hyper-V vm guest and has a virtual switch, but since #1 is "Yes" then I don't see this as that it should have bearing.Ĥ. Q: Can the mac access the Win11 device?Ī: Yes, the two devices in question have no trouble reversing the role and the macOS 12.5 device can access a SMB share on Windows 11.Ī: Yes, each system can ping the other without problem.ģ.
